  • Staff photographer Matthew Berry, Joseph Costa Award for Excellence in Courtroom Photography recipient, promoted to Multimedia Editor at the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, a Media Network of Central Ohio newspaper.

Successful Print Redesign  Gannett, Media Network of Central Ohio, The Advocate; 2008

  • Researched, developed and implemented a thorough redesign of The Advocate and associated weeklies and introduced the first comprehensive design style guide.

  • Trained reporters, paginators and editors in alternative storytelling methods and content-driven design concepts. 

  • This design later was implemented across MNCO contributing to the success of the MNCO copydesk consolidation - resulting in 10 dailies and two weeklies being paginated from two design centers and improving content and resource sharing across the group.

VOLUNTEERISM

Properties Committee  Camp Falling Rock Boy Scout Camp, Newark, Ohio; 2012 to present

  • Active member of committee dedicated to the growth and preservation of camp facilities and Scouting activities. 

  • Initiated CFR Rock Stars fundraising campaign for the direct benefit of the Lake Pee Wee waterfront restoration including improvements to existing facilities, boat restoration, program growth and the construction of boat racks, a sea wall and a permanent 50’ dock. 

  • Program and staffing consultant/advisor to the summer camp program directors and dedicated staff – including staff training, acquisition of program materials, and implementation of new and improved programming.

INTERESTS

My free time is consumed by the following activities:

  • Composite small-boat building.

  • Ultra-marathon trail running.

  • Van life – the unconventional experience of living in an adventurous,
    tiny and self-sufficient mobile space.
